To enter this site, you should:
  • Be without child (i.e., childfree, child-free, child free, childless, no kids!),
  • Be married or single,
  • Be between the age of consent and death,
  • Live in the Phoenix, Arizona metropolitan area, and
  • Enjoy socializing with others not contributing to the gene pool.
If you don't meet this criteria, you can come in, but you can't stay.

What is this place?

This is the gathering place for you if you are an adult with no parental ambitions, and live in or around Phoenix—like Apache Junction, Avondale, Cave Creek, Carefree, Chandler, Estrella, Fountain Hills, Gilbert, Glendale, Goodyear, Litchfield, Mesa, Paradise Valley, Peoria, Scottsdale, Sun City (West or Grand or not-so-grand), Surprise, Tempe, Queen Creek, or maybe even Ahwatukee.  [Who am I kidding?  The list is there to get us up in the search results for someone googling no kids and any city in Maricopa County, Arizona.  But we do have members from way way west Mesa to Sun City not-so-grand.]

Singles and couples are welcomed, but most of our members are couples.  This isn't a dating site—if you're hoping to meet that someone-special, you're likely to be disappointed.  (Apologies to our members who might be reading this:  Yes, you are special.  You're just not that someone-special.)

When and where do we meet?

We meet once a month for a social event. The meeting is usually on the third or fourth Saturday or Sunday in the month. We're flexible—we don't need to find a baby sitter. On most occasions we meet at a different and interesting restaurant. The date, time and place are selected by the member who has volunteered to make arrangements for the meeting.

What do we do?

We've gone for a cruise (the Dolly paddle boat on Canyon Lake), gone to the dogs (Phoenix Greyhound Park), taken a space ride (Imax Mission to Mir), been serenaded and gondola'd (Hyatt Regency at McCormack Ranch), hockey'd (Phoenix Coyotes v. Vancouver Canucks), and spent a day at the races (Turf Paradise) and a night at the zoo (Zoolights & a private tour). Sometimes we've just dined at a popular restaurant with screaming kids at a nearby table. [TMI - if you want to see the whole gory list of past events and loads of pictures, check out our Event Archive.]

What don't we do?

No one in our group is likely to show you pictures of the kids, or [horrors] the grandkids.  We don't have an agenda—political or otherwise—except to have an enjoyable evening once a month. We don't dislike kids.  We just don't want to take one home with us.

Who thought of this place anyway?

Our group, informally named Childfree of Arizona, originated way back in 1993 as an affiliate of The ChildFree Network in Citrus Heights, CA.  Then something awful must have happened to our leader, because we were orphaned—no kidding.  We have been merrily meeting about every month since then.

How much does it cost?

Activities are usually under $50 per person (usually a lot under) depending on the activity and your appetite.

There are no dues. We depend upon the kindness of strangers to click on the ads to pay for this massively expensive web site.

Besides, you can afford it...you're probably a DINK.

Where do I join?

You don't have to join to check us out. Just come to our next event.

When and where is the next meeting?

We'll have to email you that information.

Just Email us to be put on our mailing list.  We don't give email addresses to anyone but our members.  We just put you on the list for our once a month meeting notices.  [Please don't change the subject line.  In the body of the email, tell us your name and, if you're attached, your partner's name.]

If you want to get off the list, just Email us with the removal request.  [Please mail it from the email address you want deleted and don't change the subject line.]
